VALPARAISO, Ind. — In a thrilling matchup on Saturday night, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) triumphed over Valparaiso with a score of 81-74. Javon Jackson led the Flames with a total of 17 points, showcasing a solid performance, although he struggled with his shooting, making only three out of twelve attempts from the field. His contribution came primarily from the free-throw line, where he excelled, sinking 11 of 13 shots. The Flames now hold a record of 13-6 overall, with a 5-3 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Ahmad Henderson II also played a crucial role in the victory, contributing 15 points. He was more effective from the field, making four of nine shots, including two of three from beyond the arc, along with hitting five of six free-throw attempts. Modestas Kancleris added to the offensive effort with 13 points on six of seven shooting, while also grabbing seven rebounds to help control the boards.

On the other side, the Beacons, who now sit at 10-9 overall and 3-5 in the conference, were led by All Wright, who scored 18 points and delivered five assists. Tyler Schmidt matched Wright’s scoring ability with 17 points, along with four assists, while Cooper Schwieger contributed 14 points to the team’s total.

The game entered halftime with both teams locked in a 38-38 stalemate. In the first half, Henderson was instrumental in keeping UIC competitive, leading all scorers with 11 points. The decisive moment for the Flames came from Filip Skobalj, whose three-pointer with just under three minutes left in the game put UIC ahead for good at 72-70, sealing the win for the Flames.
