Towns uncertain, DiVincenzo unavailable for MSG matchup as Knicks face Timberwolves on Friday

NEW YORK — The Knicks are facing uncertainty regarding center Karl-Anthony Towns ahead of his matchup against his previous team on Friday, as he has been listed as questionable due to a sprained right thumb. In contrast, Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo will be sidelined for this game with a toe injury, preventing him from making a comeback at Madison Square Garden.

This match marks the Timberwolves’ first appearance in New York since Towns was traded from Minnesota to the Knicks, with Julius Randle and DiVincenzo making their way to the Timberwolves shortly after the start of training camps. The Knicks secured a win over Minnesota last month.

Towns sustained his injury during a recent defeat against Detroit and was unable to participate in the Knicks’ win against Philadelphia on Wednesday. During that game, he was spotted on the sidelines wearing an Eagles shirt in the first half.

On the other hand, DiVincenzo has recently earned a spot in the starting five and shone with a season-best performance of 28 points during a close 116-115 defeat to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. However, the Timberwolves announced on their injury report that he would be out for the upcoming game due to a sprained left big toe.
