Prairie View A&M triumphed over Mississippi Valley State with a score of 74-65 on Saturday night, thanks largely to Tanahj Pettway’s impressive performance, where he scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
The Panthers improved their record to 3-13 overall and 2-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Marcel Bryant made a significant contribution by scoring 18 points, hitting 7 of his 10 shots from the field, including a remarkable 3 out of 4 from three-point range, while also securing seven rebounds. Jordan Tillmon added to the team’s success, finishing with 18 points after shooting 7 for 16, although his three-point shooting was less effective at 2 for 9.
On the other side, Alvin Stredic Jr. was the standout performer for the Delta Devils, registering 17 points, six rebounds, and two steals. His teammate, Jair Horton, also contributed 17 points, while Donovan Sanders chipped in with 10 points. This defeat marked the seventh consecutive loss for the Delta Devils, dropping their record to 2-14 and 0-3 in conference play.
Both teams are set to compete again on Monday, with Prairie View A&M traveling to UAPB, while Mississippi Valley State will be hosting Texas Southern.
