BOONE, N.C. — In a strong performance on Wednesday night, CJ Huntley led Appalachian State to a convincing 74-51 victory over Coastal Carolina, contributing a remarkable 21 points to the team’s success.
In addition to his scoring prowess, Huntley also grabbed 15 rebounds, showcasing his all-around game for the Mountaineers, who now hold a record of 8-7 and stand at 2-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. Myles Tate was also a key player in the match, netting 17 points while shooting 6 out of 15 from the field, including 2 for 7 from beyond the arc, and was perfect at the free-throw line, hitting all three attempts. Furthermore, Tate played a crucial role in facilitating the offense, dishing out seven assists. Jalil Beaubrun contributed solidly as well, scoring 11 points with a shooting line that included 2 of 4 from the field and 7 of 10 from the free-throw line.
For the Chanticleers, Jordan Battle was the standout performer with 14 points under his belt. Noah Amenhauser also made a notable contribution, finishing the game with 11 points. Despite the loss, the team fought hard but was unable to keep pace with the Mountaineers’ strong offensive and defensive performance.
