LUBBOCK, Texas — In a dominant performance, JJ Quinerly contributed significantly to West Virginia’s victory over Texas Tech, scoring 17 of her total 21 points in the first half. The 17th-ranked Mountaineers overpowered the Lady Raiders with a final score of 89-53 on Wednesday night.

West Virginia started the game strong, securing the first 11 points and quickly pushing their lead to 20-2. By the end of the first quarter, the Mountaineers were up 24-8, bolstered by Quinerly’s impressive 11 points during that span. They continued to build on their lead in the second quarter, finishing with a remarkable 14-2 run, taking a commanding 42-17 advantage by halftime.

The Mountaineers showcased remarkable shooting accuracy, hitting 54.5% of their shots and converting all 16 of their free throw attempts in the first half. In stark contrast, Texas Tech struggled, making only 28% of their shots, attempting just two free throws, and committing 14 turnovers.

In addition to Quinerly’s performance, Jordan Harrison contributed 20 points, going a flawless 12 for 12 from the free-throw line. Sydney Shaw added 19 points to the scoreboard, 16 of which came in the second half. Both Kylee Blacksten and Celia Riviere chipped in with 10 points apiece for West Virginia, which improved their record to 13-2 and 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference.

For Texas Tech, Bailey Maupin was the standout player, scoring 15 points throughout the game. However, the Lady Raiders struggled with ball control, finishing with a concerning 26 turnovers and 25 fouls. Maupin managed a three-pointer late in the third quarter to bring Texas Tech to 35 points, but they still faced a 25-point deficit heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter began with West Virginia going on a decisive 16-3 run, extending their lead to 38 points. Texas Tech went over five minutes without a field goal, suffering from six turnovers during that stretch.

By the close of the game, the Mountaineers recorded a field goal percentage of 51% overall and finished by making 28 out of 31 free throw attempts. Looking ahead, West Virginia will face Oklahoma State, while No. 11 TCU is set to visit Texas Tech on Saturday.
