ALBANY, N.Y. – In a thrilling showdown on Sunday, Adam Njie scored 13 points and made a pivotal free throw in the closing seconds to help Iona secure a narrow 74-73 victory over Siena.

Njie contributed significantly beyond scoring, recording five rebounds and five steals for the Gaels, who now hold a record of 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Clarence Rupert also played a key role, finishing the game with 12 points, having made 5 of 6 attempts from the field and converting 2 of 3 free throws. Justin Menard added 11 points to Iona’s tally, shooting 3 of 6 from the field and impressively hitting 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, along with three steals.

On the other side, the Saints were powered by Brendan Coyle, who led all scorers with 20 points and contributed three steals. Justice Shoats followed closely with 16 points, four assists, and two steals, while Major Freeman chipped in with 10 points and two steals for Siena. The Saints’ record now stands at 7-8 overall, with a matching 2-2 in conference play.

Iona held a 73-69 lead with only 30 seconds left on the clock. However, the game would not be decided until Njie stepped up, making one of his two free-throw attempts to clinch a dramatic win just 2 seconds from the final buzzer.
