In a recent basketball clash, Sacred Heart triumphed over Canisius with a commanding 99-82 win on Sunday, fueling their competitive spirit in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Tanner Thomas was the standout player for Sacred Heart, contributing 24 points along with 11 rebounds to help the Pioneers improve to a 6-8 overall record and 2-1 in conference play.
His teammate, Griffin Barrouk, also shone in the game, scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds to support the team’s offensive push.
Anquan Hill had a solid performance as well, scoring 13 points with a shooting percentage of 50% from the field, including three assists and 11 rebounds.

On the opposing side, Paul McMillan IV led the scoring for Canisius, recording 21 points.
Tana Kopa contributed effectively with 14 points and seven assists, while Dylan Godfrey matched Kopa’s score with another 14 points.
Unfortunately for the Golden Griffins, this defeat marks their 14th consecutive loss, leaving them with a record of 0-14 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Both teams are set to return to the court on Friday, with Sacred Heart scheduled to host Merrimack while Canisius will face off against Rider at home.
