LAS CRUCES, N.M. — In an impressive display, Christian Cook contributed 19 points to the New Mexico State Aggies’ commanding 78-48 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night.

Cook excelled with a shooting performance of 7 for 11, including a remarkable 5 for 6 from three-point range, bolstering the Aggies’ record to 9-6 and marking their second win in Conference USA play with a 2-0 standing. Robert Carpenter supported the team’s efforts with 16 points and collected six rebounds, while Peter Filipovity scored 15 points, shooting 5 of 9 from the field and 5 of 6 from the charity stripe, alongside eight rebounds.

On the other side, the Bulldogs faced challenges with Sean Elkinton leading their offense with 12 points, and Amaree Abram contributing 10 points but unable to shift the game’s momentum in Louisiana Tech’s favor.

The Aggies seized control of the game early, taking the lead with 13:31 remaining in the first half and maintaining it throughout. Carpenter was instrumental in the first half, scoring 14 points and helping his team achieve a dominant 44-19 lead at halftime. In the second half, New Mexico State further distanced themselves, executing an 8-0 run that allowed them to expand their lead from 24 points to an impressive 32 points.

Looking ahead, New Mexico State is set to face UTEP in an away game next Saturday, while Louisiana Tech prepares to host Florida International on Thursday.
