AMHERST, Mass. — Delonnie Hunt played a key role in Richmond’s 72-64 victory over UMass on Saturday, contributing 16 points to the game.
Aside from his scoring, Hunt also notched seven assists and five steals, showcasing his all-around skills for the Spiders, who improved their record to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Dusan Neskovic supported Hunt’s efforts with 15 points and three steals, while Mike Walz added 11 points to the Spiders’ tally.
For UMass, Jaylen Curry was the standout performer, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
The Minutemen also received contributions from Rahsool Diggins, who scored 16 points, and Jayden Ndjigue with 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Richmond’s strong performance.
The Spiders seized the lead just before halftime and maintained it through the second half, finishing strong.
Hunt led his team with 12 points in the first half, helping Richmond to a narrow 34-31 advantage at the intermission.
After the break, Neskovic’s 15 points were crucial in securing the Spiders’ eight-point victory.
