COLUMBIA, S.C. — In a thrilling matchup on Monday night, Collin Murray-Boyles played a pivotal role in South Carolina’s come-from-behind victory against Presbyterian, finishing the game with 22 points, 18 of which were scored in the second half. The Gamecocks clinched the win with a final score of 69-59, marking their seventh consecutive victory and improving their home record to 8-1 this season.

Murray-Boyles demonstrated impressive accuracy, hitting 6 of 10 field goal attempts and converting 10 of 14 from the charity stripe, while also pulling down nine rebounds to bolster his team’s performance. Nick Pringle also made significant contributions, scoring 14 points on an efficient 5-for-6 shooting, and Jamarii Thomas added depth to the scoring with 10 points and six assists.

On the other side, Kory Mincy was the standout player for the Blue Hose, scoring an impressive 27 points. Despite the loss, his performance showcased his ability to score, particularly on the road, where Presbyterian fell to 1-7. Kobe Stewart also made his mark, contributing 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

The first half saw Presbyterian take command, with Mincy leading the charge, scoring 12 of his points and helping the Blue Hose build a 32-24 halftime advantage. Presbyterian shot an impressive 52% from the field during the opening period, including hitting 4 of 7 from three-point range. While Pringle led South Carolina with nine points in the half, his teammates struggled mightily, connecting on just 6 of 22 attempts.

As the game progressed into the second half, Presbyterian maintained their lead until Thomas’s three-pointer, along with a couple of free throws from Murray-Boyles, shifted the momentum to give South Carolina a narrow 42-41 edge with just over 11 minutes remaining. Mincy answered back with five quick points to put the Blue Hose back on top temporarily, but Pringle’s consecutive baskets soon after set the Gamecocks ahead 54-50, allowing them to control the game until the final whistle.

Looking ahead, South Carolina is set to face No. 17 Mississippi State in their Southeastern Conference opener on Saturday. Meanwhile, Presbyterian will return home to compete against Longwood in their Big South Conference opener on Thursday.
