LAKE CHARLES, La.
— In an impressive showing, Javohn Garcia scored 26 points to lead the McNeese Cowboys to a commanding 79-51 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Monday evening.
Garcia displayed accuracy on the court, hitting 7 of his 15 field goal attempts, including 2 out of 5 from beyond the arc. Moreover, he excelled at the free-throw line, converting 10 of 12 attempts, contributing significantly to McNeese’s overall performance, as they improved to a record of 8-5, with 2 wins and 0 losses within the Southland Conference.
In addition to Garcia’s standout performance, Christian Shumate made his presence felt with 12 points, shooting 4 out of 6 from the field and 4 out of 5 at the free-throw line. Shumate also showcased his skills on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds. Quadir Copeland chipped in with 11 points, going 5 for 9 from the field, further enriching the Cowboys’ offensive efforts.
On the opposing side, the Lions, who now sit at 6-7 with a record of 0-2 in the conference, were led by Sam Hines Jr., who contributed 11 points along with six rebounds. Kam Burton also achieved 11 points, complemented by three steals, while Jaiden Lawrence added nine points to the team’s total.
