LONDON — Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has indicated that Bukayo Saka is expected to be unavailable until at least March after undergoing surgery on his hamstring injury.
This announcement comes on the heels of Arsenal’s recent 1-0 victory over Ipswich, which marked their first match without the England international. Saka sustained a significant hamstring tear during Arsenal’s 5-1 triumph against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Prior to this game, Arteta had mentioned that the 23-year-old winger would be out for “many weeks.” However, following the match against Ipswich, he expanded upon that timeline, suggesting a more extended recovery period.
“He has undergone a procedure that was successful,” Arteta stated. “However, he will unfortunately be sidelined for many, many weeks. It is likely to extend beyond two months. The exact duration of his absence remains uncertain and will depend on how well the scar tissue heals in the initial week and the overall mobility in that area. At this point, it’s quite challenging to provide a precise estimation.”
