EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants experienced a setback during their game against the Baltimore Ravens when quarterback Tommy DeVito suffered a concussion in the first half and was unable to return for the remainder of the game.
As the teams headed to the locker room at halftime, with the Ravens leading 21-7, the Giants confirmed that DeVito was being assessed for a concussion. He was officially ruled out at the beginning of the second half.
In what would become one of DeVito’s final drives, he orchestrated a 13-play, 80-yard march culminated by a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Devin Singletary. During this drive, Ravens defensive lineman Nnamdi Madubuike was flagged for roughing the passer, though it remains unclear if that was when DeVito sustained his injury.
Tim Boyle, who was recently signed by the Giants, took the final play of the first half—marking his initial snap with the team—and continued as the starting quarterback for the second half.
DeVito’s performance included completing 10 of 13 passes for 68 yards, but he was sacked on two occasions during the game.
Boyle, who began his NFL journey with the Green Bay Packers in 2019, becomes the fourth quarterback this season to take snaps for the Giants. Long-time starter Daniel Jones was released on November 22 after being benched. DeVito had also started against Tampa Bay earlier this season but was sidelined due to a forearm injury. Drew Lock then took charge for the subsequent two games but hobbled off with a heel injury while facing New Orleans last week. This allowed DeVito to start against the Ravens before Boyle stepped in.
