BEVERLY HILLS, California — Jamie Foxx needed stitches after an incident involving a thrown glass during his birthday celebration at a well-known restaurant in Beverly Hills, as reported by a representative of the actor.
The event took place on Friday night at the popular venue Mr. Chow, although the exact reasons behind the incident remain unclear.
According to the spokesperson’s statement to a local newspaper, “Someone from another table threw a glass that struck him in the mouth. He had to receive stitches and is currently recovering. The police were notified, and the situation is now being handled by law enforcement.”
The Beverly Hills Police Department clarified that they responded around 10 p.m. to reports of an assault involving a dangerous weapon but found the claims to be unfounded.
In a statement, the police explained, “The incident actually involved a physical altercation between the parties involved.” They also said that a preliminary investigation was conducted, resulting in a report about the battery that took place. No arrests were made in connection with the altercation.
Efforts to obtain further clarification from Mr. Chow went unanswered over the weekend.
On Sunday morning, Foxx took to Instagram to express gratitude towards those who reached out to him. In what seemed to be a reference to the incident at Mr. Chow, he wrote, “The devil is busy … but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
Foxx, who received an Academy Award for his performance as Ray Charles in the 2004 film “Ray,” celebrated his 57th birthday on the same day as the incident.
