Sources report that Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs will undergo knee surgery, sidelining him for the rest of the season.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is facing season-ending surgery on his left knee due to an ongoing issue that was likely to keep him out for his third game in four weeks, according to two sources familiar with the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

This recent injury pertains to the same knee that underwent surgery last season for a torn ACL, although it has been confirmed that the ligament is currently intact. Diggs has been ruled out for the upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers and will not be traveling with the team.

The 26-year-old Diggs has previously missed time this season due to groin and knee injuries before making a brief return in the game against Cincinnati, where the Cowboys lost 27-20. He has also contended with foot and ankle problems throughout the season. Last year’s ACL injury, sustained during practice, forced him to miss the last 15 games.

With Diggs scheduled for surgery, he will be the third anticipated Cowboys starter to undergo a procedure this season, joining quarterback Dak Prescott, who is sidelined with a torn hamstring, and seven-time All-Pro guard Zack Martin, who is dealing with an ankle issue.

Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who had begun to establish himself as a starter this year, suffered a significant right knee injury during the game against the Bengals, which may also keep him out for the entire 2025 season. This is especially concerning as he missed his entire rookie year due to a torn ACL in his left knee and has now been placed on injured reserve.

Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is also likely to miss the remainder of the season due to a foot injury, while two-time All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons has already missed four games because of a high ankle sprain.

Cornerback DaRon Bland, who made a name for himself in 2023 by setting an NFL record for the most interception returns for touchdowns at five, had missed the first ten games due to a foot stress fracture. The recent match against the Bengals was the only time this season that both Diggs and Bland were on the field together.

In response to the growing injury list, cornerback Andrew Booth and center Dakoda Shepley were called up from the practice squad to add depth to the roster.
