AMSI, Iowa — In an impressive display of skill, Audi Crooks notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Addy Brown contributed 18 points, leading the No. 20 Iowa State Cyclones to a decisive 82-56 victory over Central Michigan on Sunday.
The Cyclones saw additional support from Emily Ryan, who recorded 12 points, along with six assists and six steals, helping Iowa State improve their record to 8-2 for the season.
On the other side, the Chippewas struggled against Iowa State’s defense, with Jayda Mosley scoring 11 points, and both Madi Morson and Ayanna-Sarai Darrington contributing with 10 points each, as Central Michigan’s record dropped to 3-6.
Iowa State wasted no time establishing dominance in the game, racing to a quick 15-3 lead within just four and a half minutes. The Cyclones launched a 12-0 run later in the first quarter, pulling ahead 27-9 and finishing the quarter with a comfortable 31-13 lead.
As the second quarter progressed, a layup from Brown stretched Iowa State’s advantage to 47-20, but Central Michigan countered by scoring eight of the next ten points, bringing the halftime score to 49-28.
In the third quarter, Crooks and Brown both showcased their scoring abilities, each putting up eight points. The Cyclones executed an efficient offense, shooting 59% from the field, and extended their lead to 70-41 by the end of the third frame. However, Iowa State’s shooting cooled in the final quarter, finishing the game with a 53% shooting percentage despite a fourth-quarter performance of only 36%.
Overall, it was a strong showing for the Cyclones as they look to build momentum as the season progresses.
