On Sunday, the UCF Knights extended their home winning streak to seven games by defeating Tarleton State with a score of 66-51. Jordan Ivy-Curry was a key contributor for the Knights, sinking four three-pointers and finishing the game with 16 points. The victory marked the second consecutive time UCF has held an opponent to under 60 points, having previously restricted California Baptist to 59 points in a 74-59 win.
Throughout the game, Tarleton State initially gained an advantage with an 8-0 scoring run, taking a 12-7 lead after Chris Mpaka executed a dunk midway through the first half. However, UCF responded decisively, closing the half with a 22-9 surge to hold a 29-21 lead at halftime. The Knights continued their momentum into the second half, with Keyshawn Hall and Ivy-Curry both connecting on three-pointers, which helped UCF expand their lead to 40-24 just three minutes into the period.
Ivy-Curry concluded his performance with four successful three-point attempts, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals. In addition to Ivy-Curry’s contribution, Moustapha Thaim added 10 points, nine rebounds, and an impressive six blocked shots. Darius Johnson also made a significant impact with 10 points and seven assists. Although UCF struggled with their shooting, hitting only 19 of 53 field goal attempts (35.8%) and going 9 of 31 from beyond the arc, they excelled at the free-throw line, converting 19 of 22 attempts. Defensively, the Knights were formidable, forcing 23 turnovers and recording 12 steals.
On the other hand, Tarleton State, now at 3-8 for the season, hit 22 of 53 shots from the floor (41.5%), including 3 of 7 from three-point range, but only managed to attempt nine free throws throughout the match. Bubu Benjamin led the Texans with three successful three-point shots, totaling 13 points. Chris Mpaka contributed with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Izzy Miles added nine points along with an impressive eight steals.
