ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Lando Norris brought an end to McLaren’s 26-year quest for the Formula 1 constructors’ championship by securing victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this past Sunday.

The race commenced with a notable incident as reigning champion Max Verstappen collided with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren, who was in second place. This collision at the very first corner resulted in both cars spinning out of contention. Consequently, Piastri found himself at the back of the grid, placing the entire weight of McLaren’s championship aspirations on Norris, who was leading the race.

Norris managed to maintain his position and clinched the victory, with Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jr. finishing in second place. In a remarkable comeback, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari surged from 19th on the starting grid to secure third place by the race’s conclusion. Meanwhile, seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in what marked his final race for Mercedes before making a switch to Ferrari for the upcoming season.
