CLEVELAND — José Ramírez has cemented his place among the baseball greats with his latest achievement.
The highly decorated third baseman for Cleveland, recognized as an All-Star six times, has become the first primary third baseman to reach the remarkable career milestones of 250 home runs and 250 stolen bases.
At 32 years old, Ramírez accomplished this feat during a dramatic 10th inning of a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
His triumph was celebrated with a big smile as the stadium’s public address system and scoreboard highlighted his incredible achievement.
During the game, Ramírez contributed with an RBI single, followed by a crucial stolen base, before scoring the game-deciding run thanks to Angel Martinez’s hit.
With a total of 260 home runs, Ramírez is now one of only 24 players in major league history to achieve the 250-250 milestone, and he stands alone as the only active player to do so today.
Ramírez is also the first player from Cleveland to reach these twin milestones and has become only the second switch-hitter to achieve it, joining the legendary Carlos Beltrán, who recorded 435 homers and 312 steals throughout his career.
His exceptional play continues to astonish his teammates, who see Ramírez’s addition to this exclusive list as a testament to his consistent excellence on the field.
Catcher Bo Naylor shared his admiration for Ramírez, remarking on how the third baseman leads through his actions rather than words.
“He’s a guy that leads by example,” Naylor stated after the game.
“He plays his hardest every time, and knowing one of your team leaders is doing that pushes you to give your best too.
He takes the responsibility to keep everyone accountable in such a subtle way.”
Naylor further praised Ramírez as a vital force for the team. “He’s one of the guys that makes this whole team go, and witnessing his accomplishments is truly amazing,” Naylor added. “It’s been fantastic to watch his journey and celebrate with him along the way.”
