DAYTON, Ohio — In an impressive display of shooting, Nate Santos contributed significantly to the Dayton Flyers’ 86-62 triumph over the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Saturday.
Santos put up 24 points, boasting an impressive shooting percentage of 8 for 11, which included a perfect 6 for 6 from three-point range, and also made 2 of his 3 free-throw attempts.
Alongside him, Malachi Smith added 17 points, hitting 5 out of 8 from the field and converting 3 of 4 shots from beyond the arc, in addition to going 4 for 7 from the charity stripe, while also providing nine assists.
Enoch Cheeks finished with a solid performance, scoring 14 points on 5 for 7 shooting, including 4 for 6 from three-point territory.
On the side of the Mountain Hawks, Keith Higgins Jr. was the standout performer, tallying 24 points and grabbing nine rebounds.
Joshua Ingram and Nasir Whitlock both chipped in with nine points each for Lehigh.
Dayton established an early lead just 1 minute and 28 seconds into the first half and maintained that advantage throughout the game.
By halftime, the score stood at 41-25, with Smith contributing 10 points to the Flyers’ tally.
The second half saw Santos explode with 15 points, aiding Dayton in their quest for victory as they extended their lead by outscoring Lehigh by eight points after the break.
