Blackhawks dismiss coach Luke Richardson during his third year following the worst start in the league.

The Chicago Blackhawks have decided to part ways with head coach Luke Richardson as the team continues to struggle this season. Currently, the Blackhawks hold a disappointing record of 8 wins, 16 losses, and 2 overtime losses, which places them at the bottom of the league standings. This decision comes about a third of the way into Richardson’s third season at the helm, as the team has failed to make the progress expected of them.

During his time with the Blackhawks, Richardson recorded a coaching record of 57 wins, 118 losses, and 15 overtime defeats. The team is lagging behind the Nashville Predators, who are the next lowest in points.

In light of this development, Anders Sorensen from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs has been appointed as the interim coach. General manager Kyle Davidson issued a statement highlighting the challenging nature of the decision. He expressed gratitude toward Richardson for his efforts and contributions, acknowledging the progress made in the organization and the community. However, Davidson stressed that the team’s performance did not align with the expectations set for a higher level of execution in the current season, leading management to conclude that a change was essential.
