Love and Chicken: How Chick-fil-A Brought Utah Couples Together (Photo: Jarrod and Shoshana/Facebook)
Many people turn to dating apps or blind dates to find love, but some people discover romance in the most unexpected places. For Shoshana and Jarrod Hart, it all started at Chick-fil-A in American Fork, Utah. They didn’t expect to meet their soulmate while working at a fast-food restaurant. But sometimes love comes when you least expect it.
Shoshana started working at the American Fork Chick-fil-A in 2017. It was there that she met Jarrod. At first, they became friends. They got to know each other while working together. About a month later, they went on their first date.
Their friendship turned into a relationship, and after five and a half years of dating, they got married last August. Their love story began in the same place where they first met: Chick-fil-A.
On their wedding day, Shoshana and Jarrod made a special visit to the Lehi Chick-fil-A. They wanted to bring back memories from the start of their relationship. It was important for them to keep that connection alive.
“We had to bring it back where it all started,” Shoshana said. For them, the visit was a sweet reminder of where their journey together began.
Shoshana and Jarrod are not the only couple who found love at Chick-fil-A. There have been 25 employee marriages between the American Fork and Lehi locations. The Urban Dictionary even calls it “Chickfilationships.” These love stories are a unique part of Chick-fil-A’s history.
Josh Barnes, the Director of American Fork Chick-fil-A, and his wife are one of these success stories. They met at work, and their relationship has lasted for years.
“I still remember the day she walked in, and I thought, ‘We’ve got to hire her,’” Josh said. Now, after almost 8 years of marriage, they have three beautiful daughters.
So, what makes Chick-fil-A a place where love grows? What is the secret?
According to Charlotte Jensen, the Marketing Director for both American Fork and Lehi Chick-fil-A, it’s not about finding a relationship. But there is a special camaraderie at Chick-fil-A. It’s a friendly, supportive environment where people connect.
“It’s not about coming in to find love. But the camaraderie here is strong,” Charlotte said.
Josh agrees. “If you hire great people, they attract other great people,” he said. It seems that the friendly atmosphere and shared values at Chick-fil-A create the perfect conditions for romance.
Jarrod has some simple advice for singles who are looking for love. He says working at Chick-fil-A might just help.
“If you’re single and don’t want to be, come work at Chick-fil-A,” Jarrod said. “It doubles as a matchmaking service.” He believes that meeting new people while working can lead to unexpected love.
Chick-fil-A may be known for its chicken sandwiches and fries, but it’s also the place where many love stories have started. For Shoshana and Jarrod, and many other couples, it’s more than just a fast-food restaurant. It’s where love can blossom, and relationships can begin.
