DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
— In an exciting matchup on Monday night, Jackson State emerged victorious over Bethune-Cookman with a score of 84-71. The game was marked by standout performances from Shannon Grant and Jayme Mitchell, who both contributed 20 points to the Tigers’ win.
Grant was particularly efficient, hitting 9 of 11 shots from the floor and successfully converting 2 of 3 free-throw attempts. Mitchell also showcased his abilities, making 5 of 8 shots, including two from beyond the arc, and finishing strong at the foul line with 8 successful shots out of 11.
Dorian McMillian also played a significant role in the victory, scoring 19 points while shooting 8 of 13 from the field, which included a solid 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
On the other side of the court, Daniel Rouzan was the leading scorer for the Wildcats, amassing 20 points along with six rebounds. Trey Thomas contributed with 19 points and dished out six assists, while David Onanina chipped in with 10 points to round out the scoring for Bethune-Cookman.
With this victory, Jackson State improved their record to 9-17 overall and brought their conference performance to 9-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, Bethune-Cookman’s record stands at 11-15, with an 8-5 mark in the conference.
