Karoline Leavitt: White House Press Secretary and supermom leading with strength and grace

At just 27, Karoline Leavitt made history as the youngest person ever to become White House Press Secretary. But her story doesn’t stop there. Leavitt is also a proud new mom to 7-month-old Nicholas “Niko” Robert.

A quick introduction to Niko

President Trump recently met little Niko during a White House ceremony. Leavitt recalls how Trump was incredibly kind, even complimenting her son. The introduction was special, as Niko had been part of the Trump campaign long before his birth. Leavitt was already expecting when she joined Trump’s 2024 campaign, and she spent much of 2024 on the trail while pregnant. She gave birth on July 10, just days before rejoining the campaign as a spokesperson.

A remarkable comeback

Just three days after giving birth, Leavitt was already back in action, watching Trump’s rally from home with her newborn in her arms. The rally was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons, as Trump survived an assassination attempt on live TV. But Leavitt didn’t slow down. Only four days postpartum, she was back on the campaign trail.

A new role at the White House

Following Trump’s victory, Leavitt was selected as the new White House press secretary. Despite the demanding job, she continues to embrace motherhood as her motivation. Leavitt explains that being a mom has helped her improve her work, providing a fresh perspective on life. “My greater purpose is being a mom,” she says, which keeps her grounded through tough days.

Leavitt isn’t alone in balancing work and family. The White House, she says, is incredibly supportive of working parents. It’s not just women with young children but men too. The administration encourages a pro-family environment, with many fathers among the team.

Following in the footsteps of other moms

Leavitt isn’t the first mom to hold the press secretary role. Kayleigh McEnany, another Trump pick, became press secretary after giving birth in November 2019. Sarah Huckabee Sanders also juggled three young kids when she was appointed in 2017. These women are part of Trump’s legacy of supporting working mothers in both business and politics.

Trump’s pro-family legacy

Leavitt praises Trump for uplifting women and mothers in the workplace. She says he often doesn’t get enough credit for promoting women in politics and business. Leavitt sees herself as just one example of many in Trump’s long list of successful women.

Trump is known for his tough exterior, but he has a soft spot for children. A recent video shows him playfully lifting a young girl with Down Syndrome, a touching moment that’s rarely covered by the media. Despite the criticism aimed at him, Trump shows genuine kindness in these interactions.

The press secretary’s role

Being Trump’s spokesperson comes with its challenges, especially considering his tendency to speak for himself. However, Leavitt enjoys working with a president who is clear, direct, and transparent. She finds it easier to do her job when her boss is decisive and communicates openly. Leavitt believes Trump’s leadership style makes her role as press secretary more straightforward.

Leavitt doesn’t shy away from highlighting Trump’s leadership. Unlike his predecessor, President Biden, who often relies on his staff for direction, Trump is fully in control of his administration. “He calls the shots,” Leavitt explains, “and it’s my job to echo his message.”

Leavitt’s blend of political expertise and motherhood makes her a role model for working parents. As she continues to serve in the White House, she proves that balancing family and a high-profile career is possible, all while embodying Trump’s pro-family policies.
