PHILADELPHIA — In a tightly contested matchup on Monday, the Drexel Dragons emerged victorious over Hofstra with a final score of 60-55, thanks in large part to Cole Hargrove’s contributions on both ends of the court.
Hargrove recorded an impressive 15 points during the game, complemented by nine rebounds and three steals, helping the Dragons improve to an overall record of 11-8 and a 3-3 mark in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Yame Butler also played a pivotal role, contributing 14 points despite a shooting night that saw him go 5 for 14 from the field, including 2 for 7 from beyond the arc. Butler also added eight rebounds, showcasing his all-around abilities.
On the opposing side, Hofstra’s performance was spearheaded by Jean Aranguren, who put up 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Teammate Cruz Davis chipped in with 10 points and two steals, while Michael Graham contributed eight points and an impressive 13 rebounds.
The game featured a crucial turning point when Drexel went on an 11-0 run in the second half, allowing them to take a 44-42 lead with just over ten minutes remaining in the game. Hargrove was particularly effective in this segment, scoring 11 points in the latter half to help secure the win for his team.
Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to play again on Thursday. Drexel will head to Northeastern, and Hofstra will be at home against Delaware, each aiming to improve their standings in the league.
