PHILADELPHIA — Joel Embiid is facing another setback, as he is dealing with swelling in his left knee and will not join the Philadelphia 76ers on their upcoming road trip. This is the latest in a series of injuries for the All-Star center, who has participated in only 13 games so far this season.
Previously, Embiid was out for six games due to a sprained left foot. Although the 76ers announced on Friday that he was recovering from that injury, he experienced swelling in his knee following a workout on Thursday. Following consultations with the team’s medical team and other healthcare professionals, it has been decided that Embiid will undergo further treatment and will be re-evaluated in a span of seven to ten days.
As a result of this latest issue, Embiid will miss upcoming games against Indiana on Saturday, Milwaukee on Sunday, and Denver on Tuesday.
This season has seen Embiid miss a total of 26 games. The 76ers have a record of 7-6 when he plays, in contrast to 8-18 when he is absent. Their overall standing stands at 15-24, placing them in 11th position in the Eastern Conference.
Injuries have heavily impacted the Sixers this season, with the exceptional trio of Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey managing to play together in only 10 games, achieving a record of 7-3 during that time.
