RAJKOT, India — In a remarkable performance, the Indian women’s cricket team established a new national record with an impressive score of 435-5 during their victory against Ireland in a one-day international match on Wednesday.
This achievement marks the highest total recorded in One Day Internationals (ODIs) for both the men’s and women’s teams from India.
Moreover, it stands as the fourth highest score in women’s ODI history, trailing only three higher totals set by New Zealand, with two of those impressive scores also against Ireland, one of which was a world record of 491-4 achieved in Dublin in 2018.
During the match in Rajkot, Pratika Rawal and captain Smriti Mandhana made significant contributions to the team with extraordinary performances.
Rawal scored 154 runs, while Mandhana added 135 runs, together forming a formidable partnership of 233 runs for the first wicket after India opted to bat first following a successful coin toss.
Following their monumental batting display, the Indian bowlers restricted Ireland to just 131 runs, securing a comprehensive victory by 304 runs as well as clinching the three-match series with a clean sweep.
