SYRACUSE, N.Y. — J.J. Starling was the standout performer for Syracuse, recording 21 points, while Eddie Lampkin Jr. contributed a double-double to help their team secure a 62-55 victory over Georgia Tech on Tuesday night, marking Syracuse’s first win in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Starling returned to the lineup after missing seven previous games due to an injury on his left hand, demonstrating his effectiveness by shooting 9 out of 16 from the field. Lampkin added to the cause with 10 points and an impressive 12 rebounds. Chris Bell and Lucas Taylor further supported the team’s effort by scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively, pushing Syracuse’s record to 7 wins and 8 losses, and 1 win and 3 losses in conference play. This win also ended a two-game losing streak against Georgia Tech.

From the outset, Syracuse maintained the lead for most of the game, extending to a maximum advantage of 52-44 with just over four minutes left. However, Georgia Tech’s Lance Terry made a vital contribution by sinking two free throws and following up with a 3-pointer, narrowing the gap to 58-55 with only 34 seconds remaining. Ultimately, Syracuse managed to secure the win by converting their free throws in the final moments.

Terry was the key player for Georgia Tech, leading his team with 18 points. Nathan George also made an impact, adding another 13 points. At one point, Terry’s 3-pointer just before halftime helped Georgia Tech close the gap to 25-24, though the team only held the lead for a brief stretch of about 1 minute and 30 seconds in the latter part of the second half.

Next, Syracuse will head to Boston College for their upcoming game on Saturday, while Georgia Tech will play away against SMU the same day.
