Bal nets 19 points as Santa Clara defeats Pepperdine 91-80

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Adama Bal delivered an impressive performance with 19 points, helping Santa Clara secure a 91-80 victory over Pepperdine on Saturday evening as both teams kicked off their West Coast Conference schedules.

Bal also contributed eight assists for the Broncos, who improved to a record of 9-5, marking their sixth consecutive win. Tyeree Bryan was another standout for Santa Clara, finishing the game with 18 points and five rebounds. Carlos Stewart added 11 points, shooting 5 for 11 overall and managing to sink one of four attempts from three-point range.

Pepperdine, dropping to 6-8, was spearheaded by Stefan Todorovic, who scored 25 points and registered four assists. Dovydas Butka supported the Waves with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Moe Odum rounded out the team’s efforts with 14 points, six rebounds, nine assists, and two steals.

Santa Clara quickly took control of the game, grabbing the lead early in the first half and never looking back. By halftime, the Broncos were ahead 52-43, with Bal contributing 10 points to the score. In the second half, a powerful 14-2 scoring run pushed Santa Clara’s lead to as much as 17 points, reaching 86-69 with just over five minutes left in the game. The Broncos maintained their strong performance to seal the victory.
