Yanic Konan Niederhauser equaled his career-best performance with 27 points, while Ace Baldwin orchestrated the offense with 10 assists, leading Penn State to a comfortable 87-64 victory over Buffalo on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions, now holding a record of 7-1, bounced back impressively after their first defeat, a 75-67 loss to Clemson in the championship matchup of the Sunshine Slam last week.

Baldwin sank a three-pointer with just one minute remaining and then assisted Niederhauser with a dunk, stretching Penn State’s advantage to 12 points. Following that, Ryan Sabol made two late free throws, bringing the halftime score to 38-28.

At the start of the second half, Freddie Dilione Jr. and Niederhauser both knocked down three-pointers within the first three minutes, extending the lead to 44-31. Nick Kern Jr. then scored a basket, followed by Zach Hicks making another three-pointer, which pushed the score to 50-36 with under 14 minutes left in the game. The Nittany Lions maintained their double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.

As a team, Penn State demonstrated remarkable shooting accuracy, making 56.5% of their field goals (35 out of 62 attempts), and they hit 9 of 21 three-point attempts. Niederhauser had an outstanding shooting performance, connecting on 12 of 16 shots from the field, including 1 of 2 from beyond the arc. Dilione contributed 16 points, hitting 4 of 9 from three-point range, along with four assists, while Kern came off the bench to score 12 points.

On the other hand, Buffalo recorded a shooting percentage of 41.5%, making 22 of 53 attempts, including 7 of 27 from long distance. Sabol was the top scorer for the Bulls (4-4) with 19 points, making 5 of 12 from three-point range and completing all four of his free throw attempts. Brayden Jackson provided valuable support off the bench, hitting 5 of 7 shots and finishing with 11 points.
