Texans’ Nico Collins returns from 5-game absence to face Cowboys

ARLINGTON, Texas — Houston wide receiver Nico Collins is set to play in the upcoming “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, marking his return after missing five games due to a hamstring injury.

On the Texans’ defensive side, Will Anderson Jr., a standout defensive end who was tied for the fifth-most sacks in the NFL with 7.5, will not be participating due to an ankle injury. Additionally, cornerback Kamari Lassiter will also miss the game as a result of a concussion.

Prior to his injury, Collins was leading the league with an impressive 567 receiving yards and remains Houston’s leader in that category despite his absence. His return is particularly timely as quarterback C.J. Stroud has been experiencing a bit of a slump, and the Texans, who currently lead the AFC South, have faced a challenging stretch with a 1-3 record.

Although Collins was activated from injured reserve last week, the team made the decision to keep him sidelined during the narrow 26-23 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have placed quarterback Dak Prescott on injured reserve due to a torn hamstring, which requires season-ending surgery. To fill his position on the roster, cornerback Josh Butler has been promoted from the practice squad.

Dallas wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will be active for the game despite being listed on the injury report due to a back problem late in the week. However, cornerback Jourdan Lewis has already been declared inactive due to a neck injury.
