Lindor hits home run as Mets break Dodgers’ scoreless streak in 7-3 victory, series tied 1-1 heading to New York

LOS ANGELES — The New York Mets secured a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, ending their record-tying streak of scoreless innings in postseason play and leveling the National League Championship Series at one game each.

Francisco Lindor kicked off the scoring by hitting a leadoff homer in the first inning against pitcher Ryan Brasier. Mark Vientos made a significant contribution during a five-run second inning, launching a grand slam off Landon Knack, which proved pivotal for the Mets.

Prior to this game, the Dodgers had gone a remarkable 33 straight innings without allowing a run. In Game 1 of the NLCS, Jack Flaherty had led the Dodgers to a decisive 9-0 win on Sunday night, putting tremendous pressure on the Mets heading into Game 2.

For New York, pitcher Sean Manaea began the game strong, managing to keep the Dodgers scoreless for four innings. However, he ended up surrendering three runs—two of which were earned—across five innings with two hits against him. Closer Edwin Diaz stepped up, earning a four-out save to secure the victory for his team.

For the Dodgers, star player Shohei Ohtani struggled at the plate, finishing 0 for 3 with two strikeouts and two walks. His performance keeps him hitless with the bases empty during his first experience in postseason play.

Looking ahead, the third game of this best-of-seven series is scheduled for Wednesday in New York. The momentum shift from this recent victory may play a crucial role as both teams seek to take the lead in the series.
