DENVER — In an impressive display of resilience, the San Francisco Giants staged a late comeback against the Colorado Rockies, securing a 10-7 victory on Wednesday night. This triumph marks their seventh consecutive win, powered by Mike Yastrzemski’s crucial two-run double in the eighth inning.

Early in the game, Willy Adames showcased his batting prowess by hitting a home run and driving in three runs, helping the Giants to keep pace. However, entering the eighth inning, the team found themselves trailing 6-3. This deficit was soon erased through a rally ignited against Rockies’ reliever Tyler Kinley, whose record now stands at 0-3.

With one out and the bases loaded, Adames, Heliot Ramos, and Dominic Smith each singled to set the stage for a pivotal sequence. Casey Schmitt drew a walk, forcing in a run, before Yastrzemski delivered a timely double off the wall in right-center, leveling the score. Then, Tyler Fitzgerald’s strategic bunt against Zach Agnos allowed Schmitt to narrowly sidestep the tag of catcher Hunter Goodman, initially ruled out but later confirmed safe after a replay review, granting the Giants the lead.

Maintaining their momentum into the ninth inning, the Giants added three insurance runs. A sacrifice fly from Wilmer Flores alongside RBI singles from both Schmitt and Yastrzemski reinforced their advantage. Despite Goodman striking his 11th home run in the bottom half of the inning, achieving three hits and two RBIs in total, the Rockies could not close the gap, sinking to their fifth straight loss and a disappointing 12-55 season record.

Pitcher Tristan Beck’s solid performance across three innings of relief earned him his first win (1-0), while Adames and Yastrzemski each contributed with three RBIs. Notably, Adames collected three hits and crossed the plate three times throughout the game.

A significant highlight was San Francisco’s knack for close games, having recently clinched eight previous victories by a single-run margin. This streak is just one game short of the MLB record set by the 1927 Chicago Cubs. Statistically, San Francisco holds 17 comeback wins this season after trailing by multiple runs, matching an achievement attained only by the 2000 Rockies and the 1979 Orioles within the first 68 games since records began in 1901.

The game concluded dramatically with two Colorado runners on base when Orlando Arcia grounded out to Giants closer Camilo Doval, sealing the win.

The Giants look to extend their winning streak and sweep the series by sending RHP Hayden Birdsong (3-1, 2.55 ERA) to the mound against Rockies RHP Antonio Senzatela (1-10, 6.68 ERA) in the series finale on Thursday.
