A tragic incident at an Ohio warehouse has resulted in the death of a second employee, with four others still receiving medical care after a shooting that occurred on Tuesday in New Albany, located approximately 15 miles northeast of Columbus. Following the violent event, police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the second death or the health status of the injured individuals. Initial reports indicated that one person had already lost their life at the scene of the tragedy.
The police anticipate that the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bruce Reginald Foster III, will face arraignment on Thursday, according to New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones, who provided updates during a press conference. Foster has been in communication with law enforcement, but Chief Jones remarked that he is not entirely cooperating with the investigation.
As of Thursday morning, court records from Licking County did not show any legal representation for Foster regarding the charges of aggravated murder. Attempts to reach Foster or any relative via two phone numbers yielded no response, as they were out of service.
Police were dispatched to the industrial park on Tuesday night after receiving reports of gunfire. They missed encountering Foster by a narrow margin as he was leaving the scene in a rideshare vehicle. Authorities deployed drones and a police dog, conducting a thorough search of the facility following the incident.
According to Chief Jones, there is evidence suggesting that there was some form of interaction between the suspect and one of the victims; however, the specifics of that engagement are still unclear at this time. Foster was apprehended later at an apartment in Columbus, where he was subdued using a stun gun after resisting arrest.
The shooting took place within a warehouse that produces various products, including cosmetics and personal care items. Approximately 150 employees were evacuated to a different location for their safety during the unfolding events. Chief Jones also noted that there had been no prior indications of conflict involving Foster at work, which adds a layer of complexity to the case.
