OKLAHOMA CITY — Chet Holmgren is set to make his comeback to the Oklahoma City Thunder lineup.
Holmgren has been removed from the team’s injury report ahead of their game against Toronto on Friday, signaling his recovery from a fractured hip that kept him out of action since November.
To further confirm his return, Holmgren took to social media, posting a TikTok video that simply said, “I’m back.”
This news adds to the positive developments for the Thunder, who currently lead the NBA with an impressive 40-9 record and hold a sizeable six-game advantage over the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference standings.
Before his injury, Oklahoma City had a strong start, going 8-2 in the first ten games with Holmgren in the lineup.
Remarkably, they have continued to excel, recording a 32-7 mark in the 39 games he missed.
Holmgren, selected as the second overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, missed his entire rookie season in 2022-23 due to a foot injury.
Last season, he played all 82 games and garnered notable attention, finishing second in the rookie of the year voting, trailing only San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama.
This season, he was averaging 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds before his injury setback.
As he rejoins the Thunder, fans are eager to see how his return will impact the team’s continued success as they make a push for playoff contention.
