Xander Schauffele led the charge for the American team at the Presidents Cup, securing a victory for the 10th consecutive time. Schauffele’s remarkable performance included running off four consecutive birdies, contributing to the overall domination displayed by the Americans on the final day of the tournament.

Sam Burns showcased an impeccable record throughout the week, remaining unbeaten, while Russell Henley impressed in his Presidents Cup debut. Keegan Bradley, slated to captain the Ryder Cup team next year, sealed the deal for the Americans with a pivotal point, ultimately ensuring their triumph as Si Woo Kim missed a crucial putt on the last hole.

Despite valiant efforts by the Internationals at Royal Montreal, the Americans maintained a firm grip on the competition. The International team fought hard in tight matches, but their efforts fell short, unable to clinch the cup.

The Americans’ remarkable winning streak dates back to 2003, following a tie in South Africa. Their impressive performance at the Presidents Cup not only highlighted their skill but also redeemed Captain Jim Furyk, who had led the team to a loss in the Ryder Cup five years prior.

In a strategic move, Furyk sent out Schauffele in the opening match against Jason Day, a decision that proved beneficial as Schauffele quickly seized control with his exceptional play. While the Internationals managed to secure points in some matches, such as Hideki Matsuyama’s victory over Scottie Scheffler, they were unable to overcome the American team’s lead going into the singles matches.

The outcome of the Presidents Cup was essentially decided before the conclusion of all matches, with the Americans meeting the required 15 1/2 points for victory. The Internationals, despite their efforts, could not replicate their 1998 victory at Royal Melbourne, facing a formidable American team determined to extend their winning streak.
