Jake Paul’s unanimous decision victory over Mike Tyson has become the highest-grossing combat sports event in Texas history, generating $18.1 million, Most Valuable Promotions announced Tuesday.
Record-Breaking Numbers at AT&T Stadium
The eight-round bout, held at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, drew a crowd of 72,000 fans. The event also featured a co-main showdown between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, with Taylor earning a controversial decision in their super lightweight championship clash.
The event surpassed the previous Texas record of $9 million, set by Canelo Alvarez’s 2021 fight against Billy Joe Saunders at the same venue, which had an attendance of over 73,000.
Paul’s Dominance Over Tyson
Paul, 26, dominated the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion, winning all but one round on the combined judges’ scorecards. This marks Paul’s 11th victory in 12 professional fights, including seven knockouts since his 2019 debut.
Historic Betting and Streaming Figures
The fight broke records in sports betting, with BetMGM reporting it as the most-bet combat sports event in its history, attracting triple the number of bets and quadruple the money compared to previous bouts. Caesars Sportsbook likened its popularity to an NFL Monday Night Football game.
On Netflix, which debuted live sports streaming with the event, a peak of 65 million viewers tuned in. The platform plans to follow up with NFL games on Christmas Day and WWE’s Raw on January 6.
Jake Paul’s victory not only secured his place in boxing history but also set new benchmarks for viewership and revenue in the combat sports industry.
