Édgar Barrera, Bad Bunny, and Karol G emerge as top contenders in the 2024 Latin Grammy nominations

Édgar Barrera, a prominent producer and songwriter known for his collaborations with various artists such as Madonna, Karol G, Shakira, and more, has garnered the most nominations for the Latin Grammy Awards for the second consecutive year. He has received nine nominations this year, following his 13 nominations and three wins from last year. The Latin Recording Academy revealed this year’s nominees during a livestream presentation on Tuesday.
Barrera has been recognized in categories such as producer, songwriter, record of the year, and album of the year. Furthermore, he has received multiple nominations in the best Regional Mexican song and song of the year categories for his work on tracks like “Entre Paréntesis” by Shakira and Grupo Frontera, “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” by Karol G, and “Según Quién” by Maluma and Carin León.
Following closely behind Barrera in nominations are his frequent collaborators such as Karol G and Bad Bunny, who have both received eight nominations each. Colombian songwriter Keityn also stands out with six nods in various categories.
The 25th Annual Latin Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place on November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The record of the year category includes nominees like “Derrumbe” by Drexler, “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” by Karol G, “Monaco” by Bad Bunny, “Una Vida Pasada” by Camilo and León, and others.
Nominees for album of the year include artists such as León, Residente, Shakira, Ángela Aguilar, Camilo, and more. Additionally, the song of the year category has several notable nominees beyond Barrera, recognizing outstanding songwriters for their contributions.
In the upcoming Latin Grammy Awards, two new categories will be introduced in 2024: best Latin electronic music performance and best contemporary Mexican music album, alongside a new field specifically for electronic music. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Univision, Galavisión, and ViX starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
