The highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour ticket sale encountered some technical difficulties on Saturday as online platforms struggled to handle the massive demand from fans. The iconic Britpop band, fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, will be embarking on a 17-show tour, marking their first performances in 15 years. The tour is set to kick off on July 4 in various cities including Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
With over 1 million tickets available for purchase, prices for the concert start at around 74 pounds (approximately $100). Fans trying to access authorized ticket sale sites like Ticketmaster and Gigs and Tours faced error messages and long queue times. A presale lottery on Friday allowed some lucky fans to secure their tickets early.
Shortly after the tickets went on sale, resale websites started offering them for inflated prices, reaching as high as 6,000 pounds ($7,800). Oasis issued a warning cautioning fans that tickets could only be resold at face value through authorized platforms, stressing that tickets found on secondary ticketing sites may be counterfeit and risk cancellation.
Oasis, known for hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” dominated the British music scene in the 1990s with their captivating rock anthems and the tumultuous relationship between Noel and Liam Gallagher. The band disbanded in 2009 following Noel Gallagher’s departure after a backstage altercation with his brother at a festival near Paris.
The tour dates will span from July to August, with performances at notable venues like Principality Stadium, Wembley Stadium, and Croke Park among others. Ticket prices vary by city, with the most expensive option being a VIP package for the London shows priced at 506 pounds ($666), offering exclusive perks and souvenirs.
The reunion tour is expected to bring a significant economic boost to the host cities, particularly Manchester, Oasis’ hometown with a rich musical legacy. Sacha Lord, Manchester’s official nighttime economy adviser, expressed excitement about the reunion, noting the palpable anticipation within the city for the band’s return to their roots.
