Rescuers are currently engaged in a search mission for a helicopter that has gone missing in Russia’s far east. The Mi-8 helicopter, carrying 22 individuals, departed from near the Vachkazhets volcano in the Kamchatka region. The agency stated that they believe there were 19 passengers and three crew members on board the Mi-8 helicopter, a two-engine aircraft originally engineered in the 1960s. This type of helicopter is extensively utilized in Russia, with a history of frequent crashes in the country and in neighboring nations as well as around the world.
