DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The official casualty figures in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel have been updated by Iranian authorities. As of Monday, the reported death toll has climbed to 935, as per official Iranian media sources. This figure encompasses both military personnel and civilians; however, the state-run IRNA news agency has not provided a detailed breakdown of these numbers. Among the deceased are 38 children and 132 women. This latest count marks a significant increase from last week’s official report, which cited 627 fatalities.
Meanwhile, the U.S.-based organization, Human Rights Activists, has released higher casualty estimates, which consistently exceed Iran’s official numbers. Over the weekend, the group reported that the conflict had resulted in 1,190 deaths. According to their data, which is derived from medical sources and local volunteers, these casualties include 436 civilians, 435 military personnel, with another 319 individuals still unidentified.
The conflict intensified dramatically when Israel launched a series of attacks against Iran starting on June 13. These coordinated strikes primarily targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, defense capabilities, senior military officials, and atomic scientists, marking a significant escalation in hostilities.
In response to Israel’s aggressive actions, Iran has retaliated by launching over 550 ballistic missiles in the direction of Israel. While Israel successfully intercepted the majority of these missiles, some managed to breach the defense systems, resulting in widespread damage in several regions and causing the deaths of 28 individuals.
