ST. LOUIS — The Los Angeles Dodgers have added pitcher Tony Gonsolin to the 15-day injured list due to discomfort in his right elbow. This move adds him to a growing list of Dodgers’ rotation members on the IL, including Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, and Blake Snell, making a total of 14 injured Los Angeles pitchers.

In a series of roster changes before their Saturday game against St. Louis, the NL West leaders reactivated relievers Kirby Yates from the 15-day IL and Michael Kopech from the 60-day IL. In a surprising decision, they designated right-hander Chris Stratton for assignment just a day after his return to the squad.

Gonsolin, a right-hander who turned 31 this year, made his season start on April 30 after a long injury hiatus. He previously underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2023 and achieved a 3-2 record with a 5.00 ERA across seven starts since his return. His latest game was a 6-1 loss against the New York Mets, where he allowed three runs, two of which were earned, along with three hits and three walks over five innings.

The Dodgers’ injured list also features pitchers such as Luis García, Brudar Graterol, Michael Grove, Edgardo Henriquez, Kyle Hurt, Evan Phillips, River Ryan, Emmet Sheehan, Gavin Stone, and Blake Treinen, highlighting the team’s current challenges in its pitching lineup.

Michael Kopech, a 29-year-old right-hander, had been out of action since spring training due to a right shoulder impingement. During his time in rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City from May 8 through last weekend, Kopech held a 15.63 ERA over nine appearances.

Meanwhile, Kirby Yates, a veteran right-hander aged 38, was inactive since May 17 due to a strained right hamstring. Prior to his injury, Yates accumulated a 3-2 record with a 4.34 ERA in 22 relief appearances, during which he struck out 31 and walked six across 18 2/3 innings.

As for Chris Stratton, 34, he initially joined the Dodgers on May 25 following his release from Kansas City. After being designated for assignment on June 2 and declining a move to Oklahoma City, he re-signed with Los Angeles. Throughout his two appearances for the Dodgers, Stratton pitched a total of three innings.
