Plane Collides with German House Terrace, Killing 2

    BERLIN – On Saturday, a tragic incident occurred in western Germany when a small aircraft collided with the terrace of a residential building, leading to the deaths of two people, law enforcement officials reported. The unfortunate event took place around midday in the town of Korschenbroich, situated near Mönchengladbach and close to the Dutch border.

    The airplane crashed into the terrace, setting off a fire that resulted in significant destruction to the residence. Among the deceased was the pilot, identified as a 71-year-old woman, as per local reports. Authorities are currently undertaking efforts to ascertain the identity of the second fatality.

    The residence is home to three registered inhabitants, but records indicate that two of them were not present during the crash. These individuals have since contacted the police to confirm their safety.

    Investigative reports highlight that the pilot launched her journey from Alkersleben, located near Erfurt in eastern Germany, earlier that morning. Her intended destination was the airport in Mönchengladbach, which lies approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from where the crash took place. It has been disclosed that the pilot reported encountering technical difficulties prior to the accident.
