MADRID — Real Madrid announced on Monday that forward Vinícius Júnior is dealing with a sprained left ankle.
The injury occurred during Sunday’s 4-3 defeat to Barcelona in the La Liga fixture, where Vinícius was forced to leave the match at Montjuic Stadium late in the game.
Additionally, the club reported that Lucas Vázquez also sustained an injury, picking up a left thigh problem during the same clasico match. This setback significantly hinders Real Madrid’s hopes of clinching the league title. The club has yet to specify a timeline for either player’s recovery.
Real Madrid’s remaining La Liga schedule comprises three fixtures: a home game against Mallorca on Wednesday, a visit to Sevilla on Sunday, and a final match against Real Sociedad on May 25.
Furthermore, the club is set to participate in the upcoming Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States next month.
