NEW YORK – NBC Sports has announced the exciting addition of basketball legend Michael Jordan as a special contributor to its NBA coverage starting with the 2025-26 season. The network shared this news on Monday morning during their upfront event at Radio City Music Hall, where they detailed their upcoming television schedule.

In a video message, Jordan expressed his enthusiasm for the return of NBA games to NBC, stating, “I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC. The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I’m excited about being a special contributor to the project. I’m looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.”

NBC’s reunion with NBA coverage comes after a 23-year hiatus. The network held NBA broadcasting rights from 1990 to 2002, during which it televised all six of Jordan’s championship victories with the Chicago Bulls.

This role marks Jordan’s inaugural venture into network television. His candid commentary in the 2020 documentary “The Last Dance,” which chronicled his illustrious career and the dramatic conclusion of the Bulls dynasty in 1998, attracted significant attention.

Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports, highlighted the significance of Jordan’s involvement, saying, “Michael’s legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself. We’re incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.”

The network’s deal with the NBA and WNBA spans 11 years and is set to commence in October. Fans can look forward to exclusive Monday night game streams on Peacock, with NBC and Peacock delivering regional doubleheaders on Tuesday. In addition, the introduction of “Sunday Night Basketball” is scheduled for January.
