In a dynamic match at Los Angeles, Nathan Ordaz opened the scoreline early in the 10th minute, followed by Jeremy Ebobisse securing another goal as Los Angeles FC triumphed over the Houston Dynamo, ending Houston’s four-game unbeaten streak with a 2-0 victory on Saturday night.
LAFC, now with a record of 5-4-2, extended their unbeaten run to four matches, remaining undefeated since a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Dynamo in Houston on April 5.
Ordaz managed to strike for LAFC during a counter-attack, netting the rebound of his initial shot which had been deflected by Houston’s goalkeeper, Jonathan Bond. This goal came through as he skillfully tapped the ball back into the net from close range.
Jeremy Ebobisse, substituting for Ordaz in the 76th minute, took little time to make an impact by converting a chance from the penalty arc in the 79th minute, effectively sealing the game with a second goal.
The game also saw Houston’s Franco Escobar receiving disciplinary action; he was handed a yellow card in the 25th minute and, later on, a red card in stoppage time, reducing the visitors’ field presence significantly in the closing moments.
Statistics revealed a dominant performance by LAFC, outshooting the Dynamo 18-4 and having all ten shots on target while preventing their opponents from threatening their goal.
In spite of Jonathan Bond’s commendable effort, making eight saves throughout the match, the Dynamo couldn’t maintain their unbeaten streak. The loss marked Houston’s first defeat since falling to Portland 3-1 on March 30, which concluded their eight-game winless run at the beginning of the season.
