DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — In a closely contested game at the CBI Tournament quarterfinals on Monday, Michael Duax and Dallion Johnson propelled FGCU to a 68-65 victory over Army.
With this win, FGCU improved their record to 19-14 and will now move on to face Cleveland State in the semifinals scheduled for Tuesday.
Duax contributed significantly to the Eagles’ success, not only scoring 16 points but also adding six rebounds to his performance. Meanwhile, Johnson made an impact by going 6 for 18 on shooting, including hitting 4 of 11 from the three-point line. Keeshawn Kellman also provided solid support with 10 points, making five out of his eight attempts from the field.
For the Black Knights, Jalen Rucker stood out by finishing the game with an impressive 25 points and managing to grab three steals. Ryan Curry also played a key role by scoring 12 points and distributing five assists, while AJ Allenspach contributed 10 points to their team’s total.
The next stage of the tournament promises to be exciting as FGCU advances to take on Cleveland State, aiming to continue their winning momentum in the semifinals.
