DALLAS — Forward Anthony Davis of the Dallas Mavericks is set to join the NBA G League to participate in five-on-five practices as part of his recovery from a left adductor strain. He will be practicing with the Texas Legends, which is the Mavericks’ affiliate in the G League.

Since his acquisition by the Mavericks six weeks ago in a high-profile trade, Davis has only played in one game. This trade also involved sending five-time all-NBA guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. During his brief appearance, Davis scored 16 points, provided seven assists, and made three blocks in a 116-105 win against the Houston Rockets on February 8. Unfortunately, he had to exit the game in the later stages due to his injury and hasn’t been on the court since.

Davis, who is 32 years old, has appeared in a total of 43 games this season, boasting averages of 25.7 points, 15.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks. Currently, the Mavericks are struggling with a roster impacted by several injuries, which has limited their practice sessions. They have faced situations where they have had to play with only the league minimum of eight players available.
