NORFOLK, Va. — In a thrilling finish during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal, Kameron Hobbs carried Morgan State to a narrow 91-90 triumph over Howard. With just 10 seconds remaining, Hobbs charged through the defense for a decisive layup, sealing the win for the Bears. He finished the game with an impressive 33 points.

The fifth-seed team, Morgan State (14-17), was able to grab the win just six seconds after Howard’s Cameron Shockley-Okeke nailed a 3-pointer, putting the fourth-seed Bison (12-20) briefly in the lead. A last-second attempt by Howard’s Jaren Johnson to reclaim the advantage missed the mark.

Hobbs showcased a stellar performance, making 13 of his 24 shots, including five from beyond the arc, and also contributing seven rebounds. This victory propels Morgan State to face No. 1 seed Norfolk State in the semifinals on Friday.

Will Thomas added 14 points to Morgan State’s tally, shooting 6-for-11 from the floor. Meanwhile, Daniel Akitoby also contributed 14 points, landing four of five field goal attempts and six of eight from the free-throw line.

For the Bison, freshman Blake Harper stood out by sinking 12 of 13 free throws, finishing with a game-high 28 points. Shockley-Okeke delivered four 3-pointers and accumulated 17 points, alongside six rebounds and two blocks. Anwar Gill complemented the effort with 15 points, four assists, and three blocks.

Morgan State’s comeback was bolstered by Hobbs in the second half, who scored 24 of his points to overturn the 44-41 halftime deficit.
