LOS ANGELES — Soon, Metallica fans will have the unique opportunity to experience the band’s electrifying performance in Mexico City right in their own living rooms, courtesy of technology giant Apple.

On Tuesday, Apple announced that it would offer an immersive concert experience featuring Metallica’s high-energy show on the Apple Vision Pro video headset come Friday. This event promises to deliver the heavy metal band’s legendary tracks, including “Whiplash,” “One,” and the ever-popular “Enter Sandman.”

Captured during the sold-out conclusion of Metallica’s M72 World Tour last year, the concert recording brings the energy right into viewers’ homes. Using 180-degree high-resolution video alongside immersive spatial audio, it aims to make fans feel connected with band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo.

Tor Myhren, Apple’s vice president of marketing communications, expressed enthusiasm about the experience, stating that the concert would transport viewers as if they are on-location, mingling in the front row, strolling backstage, or even sharing the stage with one of music’s legendary bands.

To capture the entirety of the concert, Apple constructed a unique stage setup equipped with 14 immersive video cameras, with some mobile units roaming among the musicians to enhance the viewing experience.

Even without owning one of the $3,500 Vision Pro headsets, fans have the opportunity to witness this performance. Apple stores will offer booked demos, allowing fans to feel the immersive Metallica experience in various retail locations.

This marks one in a series of exclusive performances Apple has showcased on the Vision Pro. Other artists who have been highlighted include Alicia Keys and Raye, while The Weeknd’s unique musical venture, titled “The Weeknd: Open Hearts,” also featured on the platform.
